Description:
Up for sale is an incredibly rare, authentic 1948–1950 Morris Minor Series MM Tourer (Convertible). Designed by Alec Issigonis, this is a highly sought-after, factory Left-Hand Drive (LHD) model, making it a very unusual and collectible find for the North American market.
This car is a true time capsule. As evidenced by the original 1971 Saskatchewan license plate still attached, this vehicle has been parked and stored untouched in a dry barn/building for over 50 years.
MECHANICAL UPDATE:
The original engine IS NOT SEIZED and the crankshaft rotates. This is a massive head start for any collector looking to rebuild or recommission the original powertrain. The engine bay appears largely complete and unmolested, retaining its period-correct oil-bath air cleaner setup.
Key Features & Collector Details:
Genuine "Lowlight" Model: Features the highly desirable early-production headlamps mounted low in the front apron next to the grille.
Classic Front Fascia: Features the iconic, stamped-brass "cheese-grater" vertical grille with its original body-colored trim piece.
Tourer Body: A true two-door open-top convertible model retaining its folding roof framework and window side-curtain frames.
Unrestored State: Sold exactly as it was uncovered, complete with decades of authentic dust, patina, and original steel wheels with hubcaps.
Condition & Logistics:
While the crankshaft rotates, this remains a non-running, 100% project vehicle meant for a full restoration or an invaluable parts donor for an existing high-end project. Expect typical age-related rust, weathering, and interior upholstery deterioration from sitting since 1971.
Paperwork: Sold on a Bill of Sale (perfectly acceptable for SGI antique registration for a vehicle off the grid this long). Serial number is intact on the firewall for verification.
Transport: The car does not run or drive. The buyer must arrange and bring a flatbed trailer, winch, or towing equipment for pickup. Located in Melfort, Saskatchewan.
Serious inquiries only. This is an incredible opportunity to own and rescue a rare piece of postwar British automotive history with a healthy, unseized block.
