Due to a national coin shortage after 1964, no Proof Sets or Mint Sets were issued until 1968. In the interim, to keep collectors happy, the U.S. Mint issued what was called a Special Mint Set (SMS). These sets were like a Proof Set in that the 5 coins tended to have mirror-like surfaces, though not as bright as a Proof coin. The SMS sets became the only place where collectors could get good quality coins for their albums for the years 1965 to 1967. I have (4) of the sets, each one containing a 40% silver Kennedy Half Dollar. Asking $20 each, or $70 for all four. I meet at the Food Lion in Randleman, NC if interested. #silver #coin
