An 1873 Shield Nickel, the first United States five-cent piece to be made from copper-nickel. This one is heavily worn with old corrosion. It’s hard to make out the date. With the bare eye it looks like maybe it’s an 1872 but using a loop I’m pretty sure it is an 1873. It could be the “Closed 3” variety, but it’s hard to tell for sure. I meet at the Food Lion in Randleman, NC or can ship if needed. #coins
