The mission of Pierce College is to create quality educational opportunities for a diverse community of learners to thrive in an evolving world. The Pierce College District is committed to being an anti-racist institution. To truly be anti-racist, we must work deliberately to eliminate barriers that have prevented the most promising and capable students from entering and thriving in college.
The Student Engagement Manager for Activities Board & Events (Program Specialist 3) has primary responsibility over the District Activities Board structures, including all student-led events, activities, and programs for the Offices of Student Life at the Puyallup and Fort Steilacoom campuses. This position manages, supervises, and develops innovative programs in collaboration with OSL student leaders that engage the student body and promote access to student engagement opportunities, including but not limited to Activities Board events, student organizations, affinity programs, and other college extracurricular activities and programming.
This position is also responsible for supporting the Student Engagement Services Division programs, with an emphasis of collaborating within the division to help provide holistic supports to our underrepresented and marginalized student populations, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, first-generation students, students with disabilities, single parents, and under-resourced students.
This role is vital to ensuring positive collaboration and comprehensive communication with internal and external partners of the District Offices of Student Life. The manager will work in partnership with the team of Student Engagement Managers, who also oversee the Clubs & Organizations and Student Media programs. As directed, this manager will assist the Student Life Directors with the daily operations of the district offices, including developing student onboarding, evaluating program quality, and creating social justice leadership opportunities for the student body.
This manager is responsible for managing all Activities Board events, processes, guidelines, and forms. The manager serves as the lead advisor for the Activities Board and the point of contact for internal partners, external guests, and related committee work. In addition, this role works directly with the District Administrative Assistant to support room reservation requests, student hiring, student-leader supervision, purchasing, and budget management for the District Activities Board.
This position joins a dynamic team that provides holistic and culturally sustainable services, with a specialized focus on students who are historically marginalized and disenfranchised, as well as all students. For more information about Student Engagement Services Division programs, visit Offices of Student Life.
This position reports to the District Directors of Student Life & Engagement for both the Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup campuses. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
