I am selling my priced art deco table because I am moving into my son's house and a lot of treasured items must go. I bought this beautiful glass topped art deco piece from an antique shop in Mamaroneck, NY about forty five years ago run by a father & son from Iran. Unfortunately both are long gone and forgotten but at least I had the opportunity to purchase this one of a kind piece.
The father was named Harry but I am sure it was changed when he arrived in the United States! He mentioned that he bought it privately but needed the money then because he just bought a building in the area. Sadly he lost that building due to excessive debt and not enough income it seems! I seem to remember that he said it was a Japanese artist or something that made it and was probably at that time over thirty years old? I don't know but I do know that I have to sell most of the objects in the house before I move.
The oval glass seems to be at least an inch thick and it is a bit scratched from moving from my apartment to my house in the country to my residence for the last thirty years! This is a treasure that won't come around again for a long time!!
