The settee is constructed with wood encased in embossed silver-toned metal sheets featuring repoussÈ floral and foliate motifs. The curved crest rail terminates in two cast metal ram head finials on each side. The seat is upholstered in a dark brown and tan floral patterned fabric. It features a scalloped lower rail on the backrest and stands on four slightly flared legs. This style is characteristic of mid-20th century Indian furniture, specifically from the Rajasthan region. Similar silver-clad benches with animal motifs (rams, lions, or elephants) are frequently cataloged as 'Anglo-Indian' or 'Raj-style' - h. 34 x w. 42 x d. 17 in.
