I’m a PhD student in my late 30s looking for a considerate, responsible roommate to share my large 3-bedroom duplex. The available room can be furnished or unfurnished, and rent is $750/month — less than half of the total rent.
The main part of the arrangement is helping with my three dogs, primarily taking them out when I’m not home. I may also consider someone with one additional dog, depending on the situation. The house has a large backyard, so there’s plenty of space for the dogs.
The duplex is 3 bedrooms, but I use one of the other rooms as my office, so you’ll have your own private bedroom and there’s still plenty of room to have friends or guests over. I’m happy for you to have people over — I just prefer a home that isn’t regularly turned into a wild party house.
A little about me: I’m a queer guy in my late 30s, a PhD student, and pretty easygoing. I’m openly queer and would love to live with someone who is open-minded and LGBTQ+ friendly. Being part of the community yourself would certainly be a plus, but being a supportive and accepting person is what matters most.
I’m also a bit of a nerd for physical media — I have a large vinyl collection, lots of movies, and plenty of books. If you get excited about records, Blu-rays/DVDs, books, or generally like having actual physical stuff instead of everything living in the cloud, we’ll probably have something to talk about.
I’ve generally found that I tend to get along particularly well with women, but I’m open to any gender and care much more about personality and compatibility than anything else.
I don’t mind drinks, having friends over, or some fun now and then. I’m just looking for someone respectful, responsible, and relatively mature who will treat the house — and the dogs — well.
The ideal roommate:
Grad student or someone with a similar lifestyle
Comfortable and responsible around dogs
LGBTQ+ friendly/open-minded
Respectful of shared space
Likes having a home that feels relaxed and comfortable
Bonus points if you’re a fellow nerd for vinyl, movies, books, or physical media!
If this sounds like it might be a good fit, send me a little about yourself, your schedule, and your experience with dogs. Happy to chat and see if we click. :::
