Job Title: Driving Instructor
Bolt Driving Academy is growing and looking for full-time and part-time Driving Instructors to join our team.
We're looking for responsible, patient, dependable, and positive people who enjoy teaching,
being on the road, and working one-on-one with others.
Being a driving instructor is about much more than teaching someone how to operate a car. Our instructors help students develop confidence, independence, good judgment, and safe driving habits that can stay with them for life.
Previous driving instructor experience is welcome, but not required.
If you're the right person, Bolt will provide training and assist qualified candidates through the Rhode Island driving instructor licensing process.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Patient, respectful, dependable, and professional
- Safe and confident driver with a good driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable teaching teenagers and adults
- Ability to remain calm and provide clear instruction
- Comfortable using smartphones and basic technology
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply — Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
- Must meet Rhode Island requirements to become a licensed driving instructor
- Must be able to pass the required background check
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct behind-the-wheel driving lessons for students with different skill and experience levels
- Teach safe driving techniques and rules of the road
- Help students develop confidence and responsible driving habits
- Prepare students for the Rhode Island Road Test
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Maintain a safe, patient, and professional learning environment
- Complete lesson notes and required student documentation
- Represent Bolt Driving Academy professionally when interacting with students and families

ALREADY A LICENSED DRIVING INSTRUCTOR?
We'd especially like to hear from candidates who are already licensed as
Rhode Island Driving Instructors or who have previous behind-the-wheel instruction experience.
Compensation within the advertised range will reflect experience, qualifications, and availability.
WHO CAN BECOME A GREAT INSTRUCTOR?
You don't necessarily need a background in driver education.
People with experience in teaching, coaching, customer service, transportation, training,
or other people-focused roles may be excellent candidates.
What matters most to us is your ability to communicate clearly, remain patient, drive safely,
and treat every student with respect.
We're not just looking for experienced instructors. We're looking for good people who can become great instructors.
