About Muscovies...
Why Muscovies?
Muscovies are marsh fowl (waders not swimmers) and as such do not require a pond (small Kiddie pool works perfect). They are the quackless duck, they make a whooshing sound only. Both attributes makes them ideal on smaller land holdings or even in town yards! They are great for your gardens- eating the snails, slugs, japanese beetles, etc. The adult females lay an egg a day, which equals 3 chicken eggs; the males reach meat weight faster than meat chickens; both doing so on less feed than chickens. The Muscovy is the largest North American Meat Duck. Bakers prefer duck eggs for quality bake goods and Chefs prefer Muscovy duck's for meat. And, for those wanting live lawn art, they are docile and fun to watch!
