(Brooklyn, NY)
Beautiful, authentic mid-century solid aromatic cedar blanket chest originally retailed by the historic Frederick Loeser & Co. department store in Brooklyn, NY.
It features its original metal manufacturer plaque inside the lid, making it a fantastic piece of New York history.
The chest features stunning natural red cedar wood grain, heavy-duty wooden block handles, a clean interior shelf tray, and a classic rustic aesthetic. The interior is immaculately clean and still retains that wonderful, aromatic cedar scent that naturally protects blankets, linens, and clothing from moths and pests.
Dimensions:Length: 40 inchesDepth: 20.5 inchesHeight: 22 inchesCondition:Good vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina.
The exterior shows some light surface scuffs and scratches on the lid consistent with its age, giving it a great character look (could easily be touched up if a pristine look is preferred). Perfect for use at the foot of a bed, as a rustic coffee table, or as a statement entryway storage bench.
Lock Mechanism & Safety Note:
On this particular chest, the mechanism does not automatically slam-lock when you close the lid. When the latch is out, it stays unlocked, and you must physically push the cylinder in for it to lock. However, because vintage chest locks pose a safety risk, it is still highly recommended that the buyer removes or fully disables the mechanism to ensure it is 100% child-safe.
