Kinitech Engineering Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD Operator / Structural Designer to join our growing engineering team.
The successful candidate will assist our engineers with structural design, engineering calculations, and the preparation of structural and architectural drawings for residential, commercial, industrial, and renovation projects throughout British Columbia.
Responsibilities
Prepare structural and architectural drawings using AutoCAD.
Assist with structural analysis, design calculations, and member sizing for wood, steel, and concrete structures under the supervision of professional engineers.
Develop foundation plans, floor and roof framing plans, structural sections, connection details, and construction drawings.
Assist in the design of beams, columns, footings, slabs, retaining walls, and lateral load-resisting systems.
Convert engineering sketches, markups, and PDF drawings into detailed AutoCAD drawings.
Incorporate engineering design revisions and coordinate with other disciplines.
Assist with structural assessments, site measurements, and preparation of engineering reports.
Prepare permit and construction drawing packages.
Maintain drawing accuracy and compliance with applicable drafting standards and building codes.
Qualifications
Proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting.
Background in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience in structural design and preparation of engineering drawings is an asset.
Familiarity with wood, steel, and reinforced concrete construction.
Basic understanding of structural analysis, load calculations, and structural detailing.
Knowledge of BC Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, and applicable CSA standards is an asset.
Experience with structural engineering software such as RISA, SAFE, SkyCiv, or similar programs is an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
