This modern trundle bed has steel frames for both the upper (main) bed and the underbed. They are painted close to Behr's "Even Better Beige" color, but a shade lighter. The upper bed spring is 78"x33"x13" high, with 11" clearance for storing the underbed. It sits firmly on the floor. The underbed spring is 72"x31", has wheels, and can be raised to the height of the upper bed.
The mattresses are 7" thick, firm, colorful and waterproof.
The underbed must be pulled out for use and, if preferred, raised to a standard bed height by simple lifting of the bedspring. To lower it, slightly rotate a bar by using a small, attached lever.
Included are two mattress covers, two sets of sheets, and two pillowcases. Pillows are not included.
I got it free from proper, squeaky-clean neighbors whose grandchildren no longer visit overnight. Practical-minded, I wanted it for myself, but my beauty-minded wife objected --- only because it has no headboard and footboard. Our daughter said "Maybe", but after five months, she decided that she cannot put it to good use.
