The original Shimano XT PD-M540 SPD Pedals. These are the original, most durable pedals manufactured by Shimano, with the spindle that cannot be bent like the XTR pedals. Popular for being indestructible and lasting many years. They also have better retention than the cheaper ones. I have a set of used, and several new sets. Pedals and cleats are sold separately. CLEATS. SH51 provide a very firm attachment and more strenuous exit. SH56 (multi-release) provide much lower chance of being trapped in the pedal, at the expense of the occasional pedal strike exit.
Original new SH51 Shimano cleats, $10 with pedals, $15 separately.
SH56 multi-release cleats, NEW $15ea set for 2 sets, $25 for 1 set. (recommended for beginners)
NOTE, do not buy cleats from chinese sources on ebay, amazon etc, they are fakes that do not work properly.
