Hello, I was set to move into the college glen apartments in Lacey WA, November 3rd. My plan was to move in and find a friend I would like to have as a roomate over the next year. Sadly I was just informed I can't rent the room by myself and need a roomate now.
The rent is around $1100 a month (between that $1200 but less than $1200). I was just informed the price was not what I had been told for the last 6 months ($982). All the management of the apartment complex left, even the regional manager.
Pets are ok, I love them and have volunteered at animal shelters, but I have no pets myself, and you would be responsible for any fees (I believe there is a pet deposit etc) revolving around having a pet. I would be happy to help care for them, walk them etc though.
I am very easy to live with and have had many roomates in the past and they all became like family. I have helped raise their children from being born to age 5, and still am in touch with roomates from decades ago.
I was a teacher, electronic tech, ran shipping and handling for a company and worked with my wife for years running her law office. I have a masters in education. I love to read, I play video games, love waterfalls, hate arguing, and love food. I used to be a very good cook but since it's just me now, I mainly BBQ.
I am finacially stable, but will only be working part time (hopefully at the safeway that is right there). I used to belong to the gamers coalition in olympia, went to gabbies often, and love most nerd type stuff. I am very clean and would like a roomate that is very clean as well. It's really important we both get along together.
I am ok if you have a child as well, perhaps we could cordon off the livingroom for them, or they could stay in your room. There are also 3 bedrooms available but they are more expensive, and I would ask that you pay the extra amount for a 3 bedroom over a 2 bedroom if you need 2 of them. That could also work for a couple I guess, but I would ask to split the rent 3 ways if another adult moves in.
We could move in November 3rd, but I won't be in the area till then, and I want to meet and get to know the person I will be living with. We can communicate through email and perhaps the phone, or even video call until then to get to know each other a bit. It's important you are finacially stable, and you have to make less than 35k. I honestly need to work a bit as well, so it would be great if your income was 25k or less, so someone on social security or disability might be perfect.
This is a great place to live. I lived there before covid up till mid 2019. The bus system is free, and there is a bus right in front of the apartments, so you can get all over without driving. I will not have a car, at least at first, and possibly ever again. I really don't like driving anymore. There is a safeway RIGHT next door (literally half a block). I plan on trying to work there part time, 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. I need a day between working. I have volunteered mostly this last year, but only 2 hours a day. Even that was hard, so I'll be pushing myself to do 4. I have savings, but I don't want to spend them, and if I can work 12 hours, I will be able to have as much money coming in as going out.
I get along with everyone, and make friends easily. I have no interest in dating and don't care about gender at all. I was married, but my wife passed Jan 2017 and I have had no interest at all since then. She was bed bound since 2010, and after 15 years I am completely asexual at this point. Gender does not matter to me for a roomate, as long as you are nice/friendly and clean.
This is a really good/cheap deal for the area, just a bit hard to fit the minimum income requirements. I can hold off on working at first if absolutely necessary as well, but would rather be able to make 800-1000 a month right away (which means the other roomate would need to make 2000 a month or less).
