On-Call Server & Network Tech - Downtown Phoenix - $45-55/hr (Phoenix)

We're looking for a dependable local tech to handle hands-on work at our data center in downtown Phoenix. We run hosting and colocation infrastructure there, and our engineering team works remotely. When a server or cable needs physical attention, you're the person we call.

The work

Occasional, as-needed visits, many of them after business hours. Typical jobs:

• Replacing hard drives and power supplies, installing RAM
• Racking and unracking servers
• Patching copper and fiber, installing SFP/SFP+ optics and DAC cables
• Checking status lights, reading serial numbers and labels, and reporting back what you see
• Escorting colocation customers to their equipment and helping them install it

An engineer will be on the phone with you and will walk you through anything unfamiliar.

About you

• Comfortable around servers and network gear
• Linux or Juniper familiarity is a plus. So is any certification, but it isn't required
• Can lift 40 lbs and work in a cold, noisy room
• Live in the Phoenix metro with your own transportation, and can usually get downtown within an hour
• Presentable and polite with customers

A good match for an IT pro looking for extra hours, or a student building real-world experience.

Compensation

Contract (1099), $45-55/hr based on experience, 1 hour minimum per visit.
