Original: Nike SB Dunk High “Krampus” (2012)
Collaborator: Sean Cliver (skate artist/illustrator; his first official Nike SB shoe design).
Inspiration: Krampus, the horned, goat-like demonic figure from Central/Alpine European folklore (Austria, Germany, etc.) who punishes naughty children as the dark counterpart to Saint Nicholas/Santa. Idea sparked by a vintage Krampus postcard that Nike SB marketing manager Nick Halkias showed Cliver.
Release: December 2012 (around December 5 at select shops like Premier; timed near Krampusnacht/St. Nicholas Day). Very limited Quickstrike-style drop—some shops got few or no pairs; a few reportedly pulled it over “satanic” concerns. It sold out fast and became a cult classic.
