Blake Machine Company is a small, established machine shop in Phoenix specializing in precision-machined components and products for the shooting, reloading, and sporting industries. We are looking for a reliable, mechanically inclined person to join our team and develop their skills in a professional machine shop environment.
This position is a good opportunity for someone with a basic mechanical or manufacturing background who is interested in learning machining and expanding their skill set. Previous professional machining experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person on our specific equipment and processes.
The position involves a combination of machine operation, quality control, parts inspection, and assembly.
Responsibilities Include:
- Operating and assisting with CNC and conventional machine shop equipment
- Loading and unloading machines
- Performing basic machining and production operations
- Deburring, cleaning, and finishing machined parts
- Measuring parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools
- Performing quality control and inspecting finished parts
- Assembling mechanical components and finished products
- Read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications
- Following established procedures and work instructions
- Identifying problems or quality issues and bringing them to management's attention
- Assisting other members of the shop as needed
As you gain experience and demonstrate your abilities, you will have the opportunity to take on more advanced machining, inspection, setup, and manufacturing responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Basic mechanical background or hands-on mechanical experience required
- Previous machine shop, manufacturing, automotive, mechanical, fabrication, maintenance, or similar experience is preferred
- Comfortable working with hand tools and basic shop equipment
- Basic understanding of mechanical components and how they function
- Ability and willingness to learn machining processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Able to follow instructions and established procedures
- Reliable and dependable
- Punctuality and consistent attendance are extremely important to us
- Must be a team player and willing to help wherever needed
- Reliable transportation
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Drug-free workplace, no nicotine usage.
Previous CNC experience, blueprint reading, or experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers is a plus, but is not required.

Schedule & Pay:
Full-Time: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Lunch: 1-hour lunch
Pay: $20–$30+/hour, depending on experience
