Talent, Oregon | Full-Time | Salary DOE ($41,600–$49,920/year) + Equal Share of Tips When Working in Service
We are looking for our fabulous next Kitchen Manager at Sweet Beet Station!
We are a counter-service restaurant in Talent, Oregon specializing in breakfast/brunch/lunch with espresso/coffee + beer/wine/cocktails. We are open seven days a week, 8 am–3 pm.
We have an open kitchen, so how we work matters. We value cleanliness, professionalism, kindness, and competence—and our guests see all of it.
THE POSITION
We are looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager who genuinely loves food and takes pride in running a great kitchen.
The KM is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and prep areas, including:
-Leading, training, and supporting the kitchen team.
-Managing prep and ensuring we're ready for service.
-Ordering food and kitchen supplies and keeping the kitchen properly stocked.
-Maintaining consistent food quality, taste, portioning, and presentation.
-Keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and efficient.
-Following and enforcing food-safety standards.
-Contributing to menu development, specials, plating, and other culinary improvements.
-Serving as Manager on Duty when scheduled and the Floor Manager is not present.
This is a management position, but you will absolutely be working in the kitchen. We need someone who enjoys being hands-on and takes responsibility for both the big picture and the little things that keep a kitchen running well.
Tips: Sweet Beet Station's tips are equally shared among the staff working customer-facing/service positions, including FOH, cooks, and dishwashers. The Kitchen Manager participates in the tip pool when working in service. Prep-kitchen shifts are not tipped. The KM is not generally expected to leave prep to help during service, but may jump in briefly when needed during an unusually busy rush.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who takes ownership—someone who notices what needs to be done, takes care of it, and cares about doing it well.
Most importantly, you should love food and take pride in what comes out of your kitchen.
Kindness and competence are the most important personality traits for this position. We are looking for someone who:
-Loves food and genuinely enjoys being in a kitchen.
-Has solid restaurant experience and understands how a busy line works.
-Is ready to take the next step into leadership—or already has some management experience.
-Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership.
-Is naturally organized and proactive.
-Wants to learn and grow as a manager.
-Cares about food quality and presentation.
-Enjoys menu ideas, specials, plating, and culinary creativity.
-Understands that customer service is the bread and butter of the restaurant business.
-Is kind, positive, and easy to work with.
-Can give clear direction, provide constructive feedback, and hold people accountable with kindness and respect.
-Wants a full-time restaurant job without nights.
-Wants to be part of a small, supportive community restaurant.
THE SWEET BEET STATION DIFFERENCE
We are a small-town restaurant with a busy, fast-paced kitchen—but we're not a late-night restaurant. Our kitchen operates during daytime hours, with no evening or late-night shifts.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work full-time in a professional restaurant while still having their evenings free for family, friends, or life outside of work.
We're a community restaurant, and our scale is part of what makes Sweet Beet Station special. You'll know your customers, your coworkers, and the people who come through our doors. We work hard, but we also want to enjoy where we work.
EXPERIENCE
Restaurant experience is important, and previous kitchen leadership or lead-cook experience is a plus. This could be a great opportunity for an experienced line cook or lead who is ready to take the next step into management.
That said, we care more about the person than the job title. If you're an excellent cook, a natural leader, highly organized, dependable, and genuinely passionate about food, we'd love to hear from you.
