I am helping my friend’s relative who is a retired teacher and is moving out of state. She used to travel each summer. She gave me a lot of things which she is not taking with her because she will never use them or because she has more than one and wants someone else to be able to use or enjoy it instead of putting it into the dumpster, asking me to help her post them so she can sell them for half of what they normally cost. This is one of those things because she’s moving to a really cold state and doesn’t feel she’ll need to use a hand fan. For this item, she has decided on a really low price because it cost her less (buying it there at a small store instead of here) and she has used it.
Asian hand fan, large
24” W tip to tip when opened fully
13” H
This is a cloth fan, not paper, with black lacquered bamboo spines. It comes in a red protective carrying bag. She’s from an Asian family and liked the traditional design used for this piece, a peacock and a dragon. This is a used fan, but in excellent shape. It is meant to be used, was not mass produced as a wall decoration (although you can use it for that, if you want).
On eBay I found four postings of Asian fans which are close to the same size and have peacocks and/or dragons. None also says it has a protective bag. Then you have to add the shipping expense for each of those. The other Asian fan samples I saw were made of paper or are very big and made for wall décor or they are super special for whatever reason and have a little stand for it to be put on vs. it being used as a fan. Here are the samples I found:
