This is the January 1974 issue of Arizona Highways magazine. The issue is dedicated to turquoise, "The Gem of Heavenly Blue", and it is filled with beautiful photos, both black and white and full color. And I mean they are truly striking, just fantastic. There's an article on Native American artist Fritz Scholder, a "Special selection of Southwestern Indian photographs from the A.C. Vroman Collection at The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County from the book Dwellers at the Source (fascinating photos there), an article on turquoise and its history around the world, and lots of turquoise jewelry. The jewelry photos are spectacular. There are also photos of people and places in the American Southwest, paintings by Lowren West, and of course paintings by Fritz Scholder. Just a wonderful issue from cover to cover in my opinion.

There's a little spot, maybe a drip of coffee or something, on the white lettering of the word "Arizona" on the cover. You can see it in my photo. Other than that I don't see any flaws to specifically mention. The magazine is over 50 years old, so it does show a bit of light wear just generally, but it's really not much. All of the pages are intact and clean. And did I mention how beautiful the photos are?
