Looking for a good home for Penny. She is approximately a 17-year-old grade mare standing around 15.2 hands.
I’ve owned Penny since 2021 and I originally purchased her with the intention of riding her, but she ended up spending most of her time enjoying life in the pasture as a companion to my older horse. She is an incredibly sweet mare once she gets to know you. When I first brought her home, she was difficult to catch and took some time to warm up to people. Over the years, she’s really blossomed. She now walks right up to me in the pasture, follows me around, and lets me halter her without any trouble. I truly think having the opportunity to just be a horse has been wonderful for her.
I was told by her previous owner that she had experience barrel racing and sorting cows. I’ve personally used her for some trail riding, but she hasn’t been ridden in awhile, but when she was, she saddled well for me.
She is barefoot and has been that way for about five years now and recently had a trimming. No known soundness issues. Very sweet and friendly once comfortable. Stands reasonably well for the farrier. Has loaded and hauled well in the past.
Penny is being sold as a project/restart horse due to her time off from riding. She would do best with someone experienced and confident who can put the time into getting her back into shape and working under saddle. She is not being sold as a beginner-safe or currently finished riding horse.
I’m only selling because I’m moving out of state and unfortunately can’t take her with me. She’s been a wonderful pasture companion, and I’d love to find someone who will appreciate her sweet personality and give her a good home.
