I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with a research concentration in composite materials, mechanical testing, structural mechanics, and ultrasonic/NDT characterization. I also have experience in engineering analysis, research, technical writing, university teaching, MATLAB/Python, FEA, SolidWorks, and data analysis.
I am currently teaching university-level Mechanics/Statics in Maine on Wednesdays. Since my teaching commitment is concentrated on one day per week, I am looking for part-time, temporary, project-based, independent, or short-term contract work during the rest of the week. I am pursuing long-term full-time engineering opportunities separately, so I am not really expecting a permanent full-time position through this posting.
I am particularly open to independent teaching or tutoring in mathematics, physics, science, or engineering at any level, whether for an individual student, a small group, a homeschool setting, test/course preparation, or a more structured teaching arrangement. I am comfortable teaching subjects ranging from general mathematics and science to college/university-level calculus, physics, statics, mechanics, strength of materials, and other mechanical engineering topics. I can teach either in person or online depending on the situation.
I am also open to opportunities both related and unrelated to engineering. I genuinely enjoy driving, traveling, road trips, hiking, exploring new places, being outdoors, and meeting people. I would therefore be interested in opportunities involving driving or vehicle relocation, travel around Maine/New England, tourism, site visits, or other work that involves being on the road.
Other possibilities I would be interested in include engineering or research consulting, CAD/technical projects, data analysis, research assistance, technical writing, project support, mechanical testing, or other short-term professional work.
I am reliable, comfortable working independently, and flexible with my schedule. I am generally available mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, and weekends, except for my Wednesday teaching commitment.
I currently live in Richmond, Maine, and can travel throughout the Brunswick, Augusta, Bath, Lewiston, Portland, and surrounding areas for the right opportunity. I am also open to remote work.
Please feel free to contact me if you have a legitimate part-time, temporary, teaching, tutoring, contract, project-based, or other unusual opportunity that you think might be a good fit.
