Job Summary: We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Over-the-Road Class A CDL Driver to transport freight across regional and long-distance routes. The driver will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer safely, completing on-time pickups and deliveries, maintaining accurate records, communicating with dispatch, and following all company, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer over assigned over-the-road routes.
• Complete all pickups and deliveries on schedule while maintaining professional communication with dispatch, customers, and warehouse personnel.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
• Secure freight properly to prevent shifting, damage, or safety hazards during transit.
• Maintain accurate electronic logs, trip records, mileage reports, fuel receipts, bills of lading, and delivery documentation.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations, including hours-of-service requirements.
• Plan routes efficiently while considering delivery windows, road conditions, weather, restricted routes, and fuel stops.
• Keep assigned equipment clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
• Report delays, accidents, violations, freight damage, or customer issues immediately to dispatch or management.
• Represent the company professionally at customer locations and while on the road.
Required Qualifications
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Current DOT medical card and ability to meet all DOT driver qualification requirements.
• Minimum age of 21, for interstate over-the-road driving.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record and safe driving history.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and required ongoing drug and alcohol screenings.
• Ability to operate an electronic logging device and complete required documentation accurately.
• Strong knowledge of safe driving practices, cargo securement, and hours-of-service rules.
• Ability to stay out on the road for extended periods based on business needs.
• Professional communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
• Two or more years of verifiable Class A CDL tractor-trailer driving experience.
• Over-the-road, regional, dry van, reefer, flatbed, or dedicated route experience.
• Experience with electronic logs, GPS routing, and standard freight documentation.
• Hazmat, tanker, endorsements.
Schedule and Travel Expectations
This is an over-the-road position requiring extended travel, overnight stays, and flexibility with routes, delivery times, weekends, and holidays as needed. Home time will depend on route assignments, freight demand, and company scheduling policies.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit for long periods while operating a commercial motor vehicle.
• Ability to climb in and out of the tractor and trailer safely.
• Ability to inspect equipment, secure freight, and handle basic vehicle-related tasks.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or move freight-related items as required by the position.
• Ability to work in varying weather, traffic, and road conditions.
