About Us
We are a small, ecologically-minded landscape firm which offers a complete landscape design-and-build experience, from start to finish. Our specialties include native gardens, natural stonework and carpentry, eco-ponds, and natural swimming pools. We seek to create long-lasting relationships with our clients and are especially interested in finding employees who enjoy working together as a team and want to develop a long-term stake with Ferncreek.
We are currently looking for someone who is passionate about ponds and serious about a long-term commitment in joining our service team.
Job Description and Responsibilities
• Work semi-independently (tools, expertise, training, and ongoing guidance will be provided as needed) to maintain the quality of swimming ponds, fish ponds, eco ponds, and natural swimming pools throughout the area.
• Typical Tasks Include
o Manual removal of weeds and algae
o Cleaning of filters and maintaining pumps
o Addition of natural algae control products such as bacteria, enzymes, barley straw pellets, and hydrogen peroxide. We do NOT employ toxic materials, pesticides, or herbicides.
o Addition of aquatic plants in and around the pond
o Delivery and installation of fish
• With Additional Training, tasks may include
o Delivery and installation of aeration systems
o Detailed evaluation of existing pond conditions and writing of a detailed report outlining treatment suggestions and options.
o Client meetings and writing estimates for pond construction and improvement

• Able to work a physically demanding job
• A degree in horticulture, aquatic biology, or landscape management is highly desirable but not an absolute requirement.
