Duties:
-Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
-Develop detailed project estimates using estimating software.
-Conduct thorough cost analysis for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services to establish competitive pricing.
-Manage multiple project estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
-Collaborate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors through negotiation to secure favorable pricing and terms.
-Monitor project budgets during execution to control costs and implement effective cost management strategies.
-Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to prepare comprehensive bid proposals and cost reports.
-Review construction plans regularly to identify potential risks or discrepancies that could impact costs or scheduling.
-Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to clarify project scope, estimate assumptions, and pricing details.
-Support project managers with ongoing cost control measures during construction phases based on site observations and progress updates.
Qualifications:
-Proven experience in managing projects as an asphalt construction estimator within the commercial and residential construction industry.
-Strong proficiency in estimating software.
-Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction documents.
-Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications including Excel for creating spreadsheets and detailed cost analysis reports.
-Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to establish favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
-Deep understanding of construction estimating processes including material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and budget development.
-Construction site experience combined with a solid background in construction management enhances estimation accuracy.
-Familiarity with asphalt construction industry standards related to cost control, material requirements estimation, and project budgeting.
-Strong communication skills for client interactions and internal collaboration across project teams.
