Location: Oak Brook, IL (Onsite with occasional remote flexibility)
Duration: Contract through December 2026 with potential for full-time conversion
Pay: $30-$35/hr
Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to support our Electrical and Firmware Engineering team in a hands-on product development environment. This role will focus on building, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting engineering prototypes while working closely with engineers throughout the product development process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with minimal test procedures, and contributing directly to the development of new products.
Key Responsibilities
Perform 0201 fine-pitch soldering, PCB modifications, and circuit board rework
Troubleshoot electronic assemblies, prototypes, and PCBs
Support Electrical and Firmware Engineers throughout product development activities
Conduct RF, thermal, power supply, and functional testing
Load and update firmware on development hardware
Assist with prototype builds and engineering development projects
Order components, equipment, and engineering lab supplies as needed
Help maintain an organized engineering workspace and support 6S initiatives
Document testing results and communicate findings to engineering teams
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician, Electronics Technician, or similar role
Strong experience with fine-pitch soldering and PCB rework
Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware and prototypes
Experience supporting engineers in an R&D, product development, or prototype environment
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Experience with RF, thermal, or power supply testing
Experience supporting embedded systems and firmware updates
Experience working in a fast-paced engineering development environment
