Have you written a book that you'd like to publish, but you're not quite confident about sending it out into the world? After all, your name will be permanently attached to it, so you need to ensure that it's of the highest possible quality. I have been an editor and proofreader for 25 years, I have close to 30 million words under my editorial belt, and I'm FANATICAL about what I do. I am the holder of a PhD and work with a number of academics, but my true passion is working with authors on their fiction and creative nonfiction manuscripts, whether this involves editing, proofreading, or critiquing. I am a trained language teacher and translator; I have therefore been working with words for decades. I'm also TESOL/TEFL certified and specialize in working with clients whose first language isn't English.
I pride myself on my ability to edit ferociously and accurately while ensuring that I encourage my clients and give praise where it's due. I also focus on ensuring that the client's style and voice are always preserved. My preferred genres are anything in the mystery, crime, thriller realm, but I also have numerous romance, historical fiction, and fantasy series under my belt. Some of these books have done exceptionally well and have copped prestigious awards.
My rates typically range from CAD 0.02 to 0.05 per word (depending on the service, the turnaround, the extent of the editing required, etc.). I keep my rates slightly below the industry standard for professional editing services. I'm also fairly flexible and will always try to work within the confines of your budget. So even if my rates seem out of your range, drop me a line so we can try to come up with an arrangement that works for us both.
