I have 2 sets of original unused 1940’s city postcards of San Francisco & New York City -
These are from a collection of a Conde’ Nast journalist who flew frequently to many European and American cities on her job in the 1940’s and 1950’s. They are a terrific representation of those decades.
***One of the NYC postcards (unused) has an ’new’ unused 10 cent US Airmail stamp in the corner, back side. This stamp, with this particular postcard - a beautiful period-piece photo of The Empire State Building, street view - makes it quite a collectible.***
These postcards have been stored in archival tissue paper for all these decades.
Includes a BOAC postcard from so very early in commercial travel that they would supply Airline Ad-Postcards to send to loved ones.
Great color and very clean, never written on nor sent.
They depict the iconic buildings in each city at that time, such as the Empire State Building and the ’new’ United Nations Building in NYC; plus highlights like ChinaTown, SF trolly cars and The Goldengate Bridge.
Price is for the 2 sets together. San Fransisco set has 13 different postcards, plus a duplicate of Goldengate Bridge for a total of 14. NYC set has 12 different postcards.
If you like old, American print collectibles, please see my Sept. 11th original newspapers collection and my New Year’s Eve/Day newspapers from December 31, 1999 and January 1, 2000 The Millenium.
Note: I do not ship. I can meet with you in the front garden of our home across from Greynold’s Park golf course in NMB. This is a safe neighborhood.
