Wooden ship model kit of East Coast towboat "Taurus", ca. 1900. HO scale waterline model. Un-assembled. The model is complete and has not been started. All wood parts and metal fittings are complete. Instructions are included. This model was produced before Model Shipways merged with Model Expo. After the merge, Model Expo updated the instructions and the updated versions are a free download on the internet. This is a pre merge kit. Color scheme, general hints and assembly sequence are printed on the instruction sheet. I have seen this kit referred to as a beginner kit. I feel it leans toward the intermediate side but as most kits of this type, it can be built simply or with more detail. More detail takes more time but the results are much more satisfying. Model Shipways did not furnish this kit with a mounting or baseboard but should be mounted on some sort of utility base(perhaps a 1 x 4 x 12" piece of lumber) for ease of assembly. Nice mounting bases are available from hobby shops for showing after model is finished. Also included is a set of brass after-market stanchions to replace the white metal ones that came with the kit. The last photo just shows the fittings in plastic bags.
