Little Patsy-girl has a loveable expression of innocence that is calming. (Each one of these dolls were hand-painted so they never have the same expression). Beautifully strung, no loose joints.
The original Patsy doll was made by Effanbee in 1928. Her popularity created a desire for small bisques, and this darling girl is a Japanese example. She is incised on her back with A-3 production number (barely visible) that places her in 1930s Japan.
Dress, as far as we know, is original. All her limbs move. There is a white spot on her cheek that is not a break or scratch, but a spot missed by the painter. There are few tiny black marks here and there, possibly production marks, as she is very clean.
Her left leg is shorter than the right, as is the foot, but examining the shoe bottoms there is no breakage and just a slight size difference. She stands well on her own, as seen in her walking and standing poses.
No odors, mold or mildew.
Smoke-free, pet-free home.
