Beautiful antique primitive wooden blanket chest or storage trunk, estimated to date from the late 19th to early 20th century, approximately 1880–1920. Constructed of solid wood with wide plank construction, a lift-up hinged lid, old slotted screws, metal hinges, and sturdy iron carrying handles on each end.
The chest retains its warm, aged wood finish with wonderful natural patina, variations in color, marks, and wear acquired over many decades. The interior provides generous storage and also shows the character and construction expected of an older, well-used piece
