2 great framed reproductions from a collection of botanical illustrations from the French company Vilmorin-Andrieux & Cie who arose in the 18th century from the collaboration between Philippe Victoire de Vilmorin—a grain and plant merchant and connoisseur—and his father-in-law, Pierre Andrieux, Botanist to the King.
They’re nicely framed. Sort of a red/orange frame. They’re approximately 20.5 x 26.5 inches.
No.30 1879 This plate features labeled drawings of a Guernsey parsnhip, strawberry, marbled cape bean, white-tipped radish, cantaloupe, and large red tomato.
Some background information from the web Hand coloured offset lithograph fine art print from Andrieux Vilmorin’s “Le Jardin Potages” originally published in 1850 in Paris. These are huge imperial folio size reproductions from the portfolio of 1986 and are a facsimile of the extremely rare edition published annually by Paris seed company Vilmorin, from 1850 to 1884. Vilmorin began in France in 1742 and continues to develop, produce and sell vegetable and tree seeds .
