We are looking for a reliable, hardworking high-volume Prep Cook / Chef Helper to support our chefs with daily food production.
This is a hands-on production kitchen position. We need someone who can move quickly, follow recipes accurately, stay organized, and help produce large quantities of food consistently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cut large quantities of meats, chicken, vegetables, and other ingredients
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, measurements, and production instructions accurately
- Prepare ingredients for hot and cold food production
- Prepare hot and cold sauces, marinades, dressings, and other components
- Assist chefs with high-volume daily cooking and production
- Weigh, portion, label, date, and organize prepared food
- Set up ingredients and equipment before production begins
- Maintain proper rotation using FIFO procedures
- Monitor product quality and immediately report any issues to the chef
- Help receive, organize, and properly store food deliveries when needed
- Keep refrigerators, prep areas, cutting boards, equipment, and workstations clean and organized
- Wash and sanitize equipment and work areas throughout the shift
- Follow all Health Department food safety, sanitation, temperature-control, and cross-contamination requirements
- Assist the chef and production team wherever needed to complete daily production on time
- Complete assigned prep lists efficiently without requiring constant supervision
Requirements
- Experience working in a busy restaurant, commissary, catering kitchen, institutional kitchen, or high-volume food-production environment strongly preferred
- Strong knife skills and ability to prep meats and vegetables efficiently
- Able to follow written recipes and measurements exactly
- Able to work quickly while maintaining quality and consistency
- Comfortable producing food in large batches
- Dependable and punctual — 6:00 AM arrival is required
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must be able to follow instructions from chefs and kitchen management
- Must keep a clean and organized workstation
- Must understand basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for approximately 8 hours
- Must be able to work well as part of a production team
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who is fast, organized, dependable, physically capable, and experienced with high-volume prep. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their prep list, works with urgency, and helps the chef get production completed correctly and on time.
