This opportunity is a great match for who are interested in getting hands-on knowledge in the entire life cycle of a NYC-based womenswear brand - from development and sampling through to pre-production and manufacturing of luxury RTW. This is a great fit for senior-level fashion students, recent graduates or those who are in the very beginning of their careers in fashion and want hands-on experience without being siloed in one specific department.
Some of the things you'll be working across and helping with support on include;
- Creating + updating BOMs, tech packs, spec sheets, cut tickets, work orders etc.
- Sourcing + purchasing trims and materials in the Garment District
- Calculating consumption, yield and quantities for fabric and trims
- Helping with information management on pattern revisions and development fittings (taking accurate notes, visually documenting through photos + video, organizing + updating details into files, sending through follow up notes to makers, etc)
- Organizing fabric swatches and cuttings, lab dips, reference materials, etc.
- Inventory management of trims, hardware, labels, sampling & production fabrics
- Liaising with suppliers, vendors, sample rooms and makers on back + forth details with development, sampling, pre-production and manufacturing processes
In order to be considered you will need to have the following skills/capabilities;
- Flats / 2D technical drawings
- Google Suite including Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
- Photoshop for collection layouts, mock-ups, adjustments to flats, etc.
- Ability to create, layout and update/finesse simple deck-based presentations of ideas, concepts and design stories
You need to have some demonstrated experience in honing skills in at least one key area of fashion, whether that’s design (technical, illustration, custom looks, artisanal techniques, etc.) development (such as pattern making, ideation/conception through to briefing makers) or manufacturing/production/supply chain. Your specific area of interest, and how you have invested effort into exploring it and developing knowledge in that sphere, needs to be clearly communicated in your application.
You also need to effectively demonstrate that you have a genuine interest in, and affinity for, the process of crafting and making luxury garments, which require an exceptional level of accuracy and attention to detail.
This is a great opportunity to be 'on the tools' with a small, talented but highly experienced team building a NYC-based luxury fashion brand from the very beginning. You get to meet, work alongside and develop relationships with some of the most accomplished and lauded makers, factories, artisans and creative in the industry - from navigating NYC’s garment district through to Italian hardware suppliers, artisanal fabric mills and sample makers.

It sends a message that you're not someone who understands that true luxury in fashion is what is dreamt up, ideated, created, developed, sewn, produced and finished by human hands and hearts. A real human took the time to write this posting by hand. Every word. It was thoughtfully written and took time.
