We are a psychology research team investigating issues related to eyewitness misidentifications and racial disparities in the criminal legal system. We are seeking Black men willing to act in a mock crime and mock identification procedure that will be recorded and posted online for use in psychology research materials. All roles are paid ($25 for one hour, one time). The role has no spoken lines—both experienced actors and newcomers are welcome.
Requirements:
Please only apply if you are a Black man of average height and weight with no face, neck, or hand tattoos. Must be 18 years or older. Acting experience is not required.

Compensation: This is a paid opportunity. All actors will be paid $25 for one hour. The minimum wage in New York City is $17 per hour.

NYC: Filming will take place in Manhattan’s West Side, near Midtown/Hell’s Kitchen/Columbus Circle. Please ensure you have reliable transportation.
Role Details: If you’re hired, you will play a robber in a 30-second simulated crime video, followed by simulated identification procedures and brief questionnaires. The simulated identification procedure will involve stepping forward, turning to each side, and stepping back into line. The recorded videos will ultimately be shown to psychology research participants.
Consent for Photo Storage: You will be sent an electronic consent form requesting to store your photographs for use in future research. Consenting to the storage of your photographs is not required to be hired for the current study. Unless you consent to storage, all photographs sent in for recruitment will be destroyed following the selection of our actors.
Selection Process: A team of researchers will review your photographs and body dimensions and sort recruits into groups by similarity. This analysis will determine which applicants will be hired for the role. You will be contacted for your availability to record.
