My name is Chris Friesen, and I’m a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter with over ten years of teaching experience. I offer creative, engaging, and personalized music lessons for students of all ages and experience levels. I believe music is a language, and just like any language, it is learned best through creativity, exploration, and hands-on experience. My goal as a teacher is to help students develop their musical abilities while keeping their individuality and creative freedom intact. Rather than simply teaching students what to play, I focus on giving them the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to eventually teach themselves and become independent musicians.
Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the very first time or you’ve been playing for years and want to deepen your understanding of music, I can help you reach your goals. For complete beginners, I provide a supportive and encouraging environment where you can build strong fundamentals while having fun. For more experienced players, lessons can focus on improving technique, understanding music theory, songwriting, improvisation, developing your ear, or exploring new musical styles. My ultimate goal is to nurture the artist in every student and help each person discover their own unique musical voice.
Lessons are available from my home studio or I can travel to your home for added convenience. In addition to guitar, I also teach banjo, electric bass, and ukulele. I welcome students as young as six years old and tailor lessons to suit each student’s age, interests, abilities, and musical goals. I also offer small group guitar lessons for beginners. Group lessons are a more affordable option and can be a fun way to learn, meet other musicians, and stay motivated while developing your skills together.
I have open availability during weekday daytime hours, making lessons especially convenient for retirees, homeschoolers, students with flexible schedules, or people who work shifts. My aim is to make learning music accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding while creating lessons that students genuinely look forward to.
For lessons at your home, there is an additional $20 travel fee to cover travel time, fuel, and related expenses.
GROUP GUITAR LESSONS: Fridays from 5:00–5:45 PM. October 2–December 18. The cost is $240 per student for 12 lessons, which works out to just $20 per lesson.
If you’ve always wanted to learn guitar, pick up another instrument, improve your existing skills, or simply explore your creativity through music, I’d love to help you get started. Contact me to learn more or to arrange a lesson.
