Native British English Tutor Wanted – Oxford Background Required – Kita-ku, Tokyo
We are looking for a native British English-speaking tutor for a 3-year-old boy in Kita-ku, Tokyo.
The child lived in Oxford, UK until August 2026 and attended a local nursery there. His family would like him to continue being exposed to natural British English and the kind of English environment he experienced in Oxford.
Oxford background is required.
Applicants must either:
- Be from Oxford, or
- Have lived in Oxford for a significant period of time
Location:
Kita-ku, Tokyo
Nearest station: Itabashihoncho Station
Schedule:
Once a week
1 hour per lesson
Preferred times:
- Wednesday between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM
- Saturday or Sunday morning
Pay:
¥4,000 per hour
+ Full transportation reimbursement
Lesson style:
This is not a formal classroom-style lesson.
The family would like the tutor to interact naturally with the child in English through:
- Reading picture books
- Singing English songs
- Playing with Lego, cars and trains
- Simple conversation and play
The child especially enjoyed singing sessions at his nursery in Oxford.
Requirements:
- Native British English speaker
- Oxford background as described above
- Comfortable working with young children
- Friendly, patient and reliable
- Currently living in Japan
- Valid visa/status permitting work in Japan
