Was used as a decorative piece to (1) display photos and a variety of mementos and more importantly (2) to hide a large ( 27" x 27" ) AC return vent in the Living room wall of our Lennar home. The criss cross area hides the return vent to the AC but allows air into the vent.
We recently sheet rocked over the vent opening during a renovation that includes wall shelves, so there is no need for it anymore .
