This is a refurbished 1929 Baer & Strasburger pull-behind toy zeppelin in excellent condition, and everything works.
Baer & Strasburger was a New York-based toy manufacturer active in the early to mid‑20th century, known for producing large, detailed pull‑toy vehicles and aircraft. Their Zeppelin pull toys are among the most iconic examples of the company’s work, reflecting the public fascination with airships during the 1920s and 1930s
The Baer & Strasburger Zeppelin pull toy was made from 28‑gauge pressed steel sheets, stamped into upper and lower sections, crimped together along seam lines, and finished with horizontal fins. The gondola was attached to the lower section, and the toy featured pressed‑steel wheels and axle. The original box often included pictorial drawings of Manhattan scenes with the Statue of Liberty, evoking the glamour of the era.
These toys were produced in the late 1920s, a period when Zeppelin airships like the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin and LZ 129 Hindenburg were making regular transatlantic flights. The toy’s design and imagery tapped into the public’s excitement about these futuristic, luxury airships, which were seen as symbols of technological progress and global travel.
