This is the 1929 first edition hardback copy of "Mission Memories" by John Steven McGroarty (1862 - 1944). The book celebrates the history, architecture, and customs of the twenty-one Spanish Franciscan California missions built along El Camino Real. It features prominent duotone drawing plates for each of the 21 individual missions. It is a signed edition by the author. $50

Second, the 1934 first edition of "Old Monterey: California's Adobe Capital" by Laura Bride Powers (founder of the Monterey History and Art Association). It covers the history of Monterey, describing homes, and featuring maps and photographs. This one is a rare signed and inscribed first edition. Local antiquarian bookstore has it for sale at up to $450. $100
