Completely functional Edison C-250 Phonograph
$100 Cash Only - Pickup Only
Offering an Edison C-250 Diamond Disc phonograph. This is a substantial, upright, hand-cranked phonograph from the mid-1910s. It was one of the leading models in Edison's domestic disc phonograph line, combining a large internal horn, a powerful spring motor, decorative cabinetry, and built-in record storage.
The horn is built into the cabinet rather than projecting out from the machine. The C-250's large No. 250 horn is approximately 16¾ × 12 inches at its mouth. Its size helps produce a substantial, full sound without electronic amplification. It also offers a sliding volume control function.
Lower drawers hold the records and include dividers and a record-index card.
Includes two interchangeable heads - one for Edison Diamond Discs and one for standard shellac 78 rpm records. Also includes a whole bunch of steel needles, an original grease jar with grease and 23 engraved label Edison discs (1912-1921) that are in spectacular condition. It also has a sliding volume control function.
This phonograph was stored in a temperature controlled space for over 30 years and is in complete working order (see video). It is on casters so it can be rolled into position. As far as I can tell from research, this unit is complete.
Of course there are a few condition issues. On the rear, there are a couple missing pieces of cabinetry (see photos). The keyhole plate on the top is detached and the plate for the crank arm is missing 3 brass screws but you may not want to screw it in as you’ll want to remove the crank when moving it. The cabinetry is pretty clean with minimal marks. The cloth screen on the front of the speaker has been replaced.
This item is pick-up only. It is pretty heavy so you’ll need a truck with a lift or a couple very strong young folks to lift it into the truck bed. I will not deliver or help lift it.
