Hello! I’m currently seeking a new roommate to share my Bed-Stuy apartment with. There will only be 2 of us.
The Apartment: Besides your room, the apartment is fully furnished (couch, dining table, pots/pans/vitamix/microwave), so it is probably best that you don’t have too many belongings. "Laundry on site" refers to the portable washing machine I run from the kitchen sink, perfectly suits mine and my current roommates needs. After living in NYC for 13 years, this is the ONLY apartment where I have never seen a pest. 4 blocks away from HVK, equidistant from the Bedford-Nostrand G stop and the Nostrand A/C.
It is a 2.5 bedroom and 2 bathroom in an open layout with ceiling fans. Common area is quite spacious. The half bedroom is currently used for storage and I keep a desk in there that I work or study from occasionally. There is room for your items in the existing storage furniture, including half of the drawers in a dresser, half of the closet, and a coat/shoe rack. You could probably fit a dresser or small/medium desk in there as well. Your bathroom would be off the kitchen, and close to your bedroom. We currently have a little sitting area in the front yard where we can grow flowers and herbs in the spring/summer. I have been told by the landlord we will have sunny backyard access within the year along with a real washer and dryer in the basement. The landlord, by the way, has been kind, attentive, and fair. No smoking cigarettes, and no pets of any kind. Shoes off household. No big parties, but small gatherings are welcome.
The photos here are from before we moved in as the apartment is currently filled with boxes from the current roommate’s departure. While her room is pictured with furniture for scale, the room will be empty by the time you move in.
About me: I am a 37 year old female working as a medical researcher with a hybrid work schedule. I spend my spare time gardening, hiking, arts and crafts & local politics. I also spend a fair amount of time hanging out with my family in New Jersey, especially in the summer. Come fall of 2027 I will be going back to school and continuing to work full time, so I probably won’t be around too much. After years of craigslist roommates, proud to say almost all of them have worked out positively. I’ve had situations where a craigslist roommate becomes a friend I stay in touch with for years, and perfectly harmonious situations where we live independent lives and say hello in passing.
About you: Female, does not work exclusively from home, keeps a CLEAN kitchen, fridge, and freezer, and can sign a yearlong lease. The landlord will run a standard background/credit check, first month’s rent ($1650) and security due upfront ($1650). Available on 10/1, but you can move in as early as 9/17 with pro-rated rent.
