We are a staffing company that works specifically with apartment communities throughout the Phoenix metro area.
We are not a general labor staffing agency and we do not send people to warehouses, construction sites or random jobs. We have been staffing the multifamily industry for over 30 years. Apartment communities call us when they need experienced maintenance help, and we send qualified maintenance professionals to work directly onsite at those communities.
If you are not interested in working through a staffing company, this probably isn’t the right opportunity for you.
This is a Maintenance Supervisor position.
We’re looking for people who have actually led an apartment maintenance operation, not someone looking to move into their first maintenance leadership role.
You should be able to walk onto a property, understand what needs to be done, prioritize the workload and keep the maintenance operation moving.
That means being able to lead the team while still being willing and able to get your hands dirty when needed.
You should have strong experience with:
• Managing daily maintenance operations
• Supervising and directing maintenance technicians, porters and vendors
• Prioritizing work orders and apartment turns
• HVAC diagnosis and repair
• Plumbing and electrical troubleshooting
• Appliance repair
• Preventative maintenance programs
• Make-readies and turn scheduling
• Property inspections
• Inventory, parts and maintenance supplies
• Vendor coordination
• Pool and common-area maintenance
• On-call and emergency maintenance
• Communicating with property management regarding maintenance issues, turns and priorities
A Maintenance Supervisor needs to do more than know how to fix things.
You need to be able to manage the workload, communicate with management, lead your team, hold people accountable and make sure residents aren’t waiting unnecessarily for maintenance issues to be handled.
You must have:
• Previous apartment Maintenance Supervisor or strong Lead Technician experience
• Strong hands-on apartment maintenance knowledge
• HVAC troubleshooting experience
• Your own maintenance tools
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s license
• Working phone and reliable communication
• Clean criminal background
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Strong and reliable attendance
EPA 608 certification is strongly preferred and may be required depending on the property. CPO or other pool certification is also highly preferred.
Pay: $26–$28/hr
Pay may vary depending on experience, certifications and the specific position.
Most schedules are Monday through Friday, typically 7–4 or 8–5. Supervisor positions commonly include an on-call rotation and may require after-hours emergency response.
We have temporary, long-term temporary and temp-to-hire opportunities.
Understand how our assignments work before applying:
Our opportunities are at apartment communities throughout the Valley. We do not control where every opening is located. Properties contact us when they need help, so the more flexible you are with your commute, the more opportunities we can offer you.
When a property calls us for a Maintenance Supervisor, there’s usually a reason they need help.
They may be short staffed. They may be behind on turns or work orders. They may have maintenance team vacancies. The previous supervisor may have left. The onsite team may be under pressure.
You need to be comfortable walking into that environment, figuring out what needs attention and helping get the maintenance operation moving in the right direction.
That means being able to work under pressure, communicate with property management, lead the maintenance team and not take every stressful interaction personally.
At the same time, you’re not being brought in just to give orders. If the team needs help knocking out turns or work orders, you need to be willing to jump in.
If the opportunity is temp-to-hire, the position is not guaranteed.
Think of the assignment as your working interview.
You aren’t sitting in an office telling the property what kind of supervisor you are. You’re showing them.
They’re going to see how you lead, how you communicate, how you prioritize, how you treat the maintenance team and residents, whether you take initiative and whether you can actually handle the maintenance operation.
We’re also going to ask specific questions about your experience.
If you say you know HVAC, we’re going to ask what you’ve diagnosed and repaired.
If you say you’ve supervised a maintenance team, we’re going to ask about the size of the team, the property and what you were actually responsible for.
A title on a resume isn’t enough. We need to know you can actually run the maintenance side of an apartment community.
If you accept an assignment, we expect you to show up, communicate and lead professionally. Repeated call-outs, last-minute cancellations or poor communication will affect whether we contact you for future opportunities.
On the other side of that, if you know your trade, lead well and get strong feedback from the property, we’ll work hard to keep opportunities in front of you.
Our process is simple:
Send us your resume with your apartment maintenance and leadership experience.
We’ll complete a phone screening, run the required background process and get qualified supervisors in front of properties quickly.
No unnecessary trip across town just to sit in our office for an interview. You prove yourself by doing the work.
When responding, please include:
• Years of apartment maintenance experience
• Years of Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Technician experience
• Size of properties you’ve worked at
• Size of maintenance teams you’ve supervised
• Your HVAC experience and what you can diagnose/repair yourself
• EPA 608/HVAC/pool certifications
• What part of the Valley you live in
• Whether you have reliable transportation
• Whether you have your own tools
• Your current availability
• What you’re looking for: temporary/support work, temp-to-hire, or open to either
If you’ve actually run apartment maintenance operations, know your trade, can lead a team and are serious about working, respond to this ad.
