Overview
Up for sale is an extremely original, all-stock 1981 Moto Guzzi V50 Monza. I have owned this classic Italian small-block for over 20 years. It is a rare, unmolested survivor that retains its original factory specification—no chopped wiring, aftermarket hacks, or aggressive modifications.
The bike has been parked on a covered front porch under a lightweight fitted cover for some time (last major service was roughly 10 years ago). With a brand-new battery installed, it fired right up, runs crisp, and is ready for a tuner or collector to bring it back into regular road rotation.
Key Features & Current State
Engine & Drivetrain: Air-cooled 490cc transverse V-twin paired with its original shaft drive. Strong, balanced compression from both cylinders.
Electrical System: 100% functional. Headlight (high/low beam), high-beam dash indicator, front/rear turn signals, tail/brake lights, and horn all operate properly.
Recent Work: New battery installed; tires recently inflated and holding pressure so the bike rolls freely for easy loading and transport.
Carburetion & Idle: Settles to a steady ~1,200 RPM idle off-choke, with crisp throttle response up through 6,000+ RPM and smooth return to idle.
Video Walk Around & Cold Start
I have recorded a complete, transparent video walk around demonstrating:
- Cold cylinder head pipes prior to starting.
- Cold start sequence, choke operation, and warm-up idle.
- Full electrical check (headlights low/high beam, dash high-beam indicator, front and rear turn signals, tail lights).
- Throttle response (revving smoothly to 6,000 RPM and settling right back to steady idle).
- Dual exhaust pressure check.

Condition & Terms
The bike shows honest patina and cosmetic character consistent with an original 1980s survivor. Given that it has sat without formal mechanical servicing for about a decade, it is being sold as-is. Buyers should plan to baseline fluids and inspect tires/brakes before any long-distance road use.
Payment & Delivery: Cash or verified funds for local pickup. I am happy to assist with loading if you arrange your own motorcycle transport. Serious inquiries only—feel free to message with any questions or to schedule an in-person viewing.
