2019 Evelo Compass Adult Electric Trike with Two Batteries
This was purchased for my wife in July 2019 and gave her much joy in our adventures on the local paved trails. Because of health conditions she can no longer safely ride, so we are sadly offering it for sale. It has been well maintained, always stored in a heated garage and is in excellent perfect working condition. It only has 1200 miles on the odometer and both lithium batteries still hold a full charge and provide a long range ride. The original selling price including the extra battery was $3900 in 2019. Evelo still sells this same model, list price $4300 plus $850 for the second battery. Check their web site (evelo.com) for current prices and details.
The trike is mid drive electric assist which means the rear axle and wheels are powered by the pedals assisted with an electric motor. The rear axle has a differential gear, so both rear wheels can receive traction when needed. For pedaling, it has a 3 speed Shimano IGH (internal geared hub) shifter. The motor provides 4 levels of electric assist, or it can be pedaled manually without assist. It also has a "throttle" option on the handlebar so when necessary it can be powered from the electric motor alone without pedaling. On the local paved streets and trails, it has plenty of power to easily tackle hills and headwinds. Evelo advertises the range with two batteries on a full battery charge to be up to 80 miles. This is entirely dependent on the conditions (wind, speed, hills, etc.) and how much motor assist and throttle you use in relation to pedaling. My wife found 30 to 50 miles to be a realistic distance with her riding style. Evelo advertises the maximum speed at 20 MPH. Our experience would indicate 15 to 18 MPH is more realistic maximum speed, again depending on the conditions. With a trike you really need to slow way down on turns and cornering to avoid tip-overs, so 15 mph "feels" very fast on the trike. The trike has mechanical disc brakes, both front and rear. Both brakes can be "locked" for safety when parked.
The trike is an attractive dark green color, has a large rear basket for toting gear, groceries, etc. It comes with two lithium batteries, two chargers, a bell and rear view mirror, headlight, tail light with brake light, Schwinn helmet, two saddles (one regular and one extra wide), two cable security locks.
