This vintage turquoise pendant features a sterling silver setting and comes with a 21 inch lariat chain with a working clasp. The chain isn’t marked, so I don’t know if it’s Sterling. Crafted by artisan John Nelson of the Navajo tribe, this handmade piece reflects native American culture. Made in the United States, this pendant is a collectible item that showcases the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the Navajo people, the vibrant turquoise stone is a unique and beautiful touch to this timeless piece of jewelry.
NOTE: pick up is in Maple Valley
John Nelson is Navajo and was born in Winslow Arizona. He has two brothers and two sisters. He has three children and four grandchildren. He enjoys being outside and especially loves going to garage sales and to the flea markets.
He moved to Albuquerque at a young age, and later attended the Albuquerque Indian school. That’s where a good friend in high school taught him how to do silver work. He has been working with silver and turquoise since the 70s. (This piece was purchased in 1980.) He’s even had some of his inlay work featured in the Arizona highway magazine. He signs his work J Nelson.
