This is my 2011 E-250 camper van, it has taken my wife and myself all over this fine province for 5 years now but things have changed, now we have a kid and our camper is just not big enough for the 3 of us. I have owned this van since April of 2021 and in that time i have used it largely to take us to hard to reach trail heads all over BC, some of the Yukon and was my daily driver otherwise. This is a very capable vehicle and has many more trips to give to its next owners.
The van is full size measuring 20 feet from bumper to bumper giving you lots of living space inside, the insulated ceiling is vented and clad in 1/2 inch cedar tongue and groove. The walls and doors are also insulated keeping the camper cool in the summer and warm all the other seasons. The bed can comfortably sleep 2 people, measures 6 foot 5 inch long, features an incredible amount of storage underneath and can fold up into a forward and rear facing couch. At the back we have the electrical and tool storage area, the 2x100ah batteries are charged off the alternator but also charged by the 2x100watt solar panels through their charge controller, there is also a small fuse block which controls all of the DC side of the system including the sink water pump, puck lights, LED strip light and the USB chargers. The batteries are also connected to the indomitable Luyuani 2000watt pure sine inverter which runs the A/C side of things featuring the many outlets, small TV and the fridge. The van features a frankly massive amount of cabinet storage that can only be fully appreciated by seeing it. the kitchen area has a small sink with a cover, switch operated tap, lots of counter space, 10 gallon fresh water tank, magnetic bar for metal utensils and 3 large sliding drawers. One of the best parts is the wood burning stove, just big enough to cook and put a kettle on top of but also large enough to keep the entire inside toasty warm. Nothing better then getting in from a muti day hike and having the stove to warm you up and dry off your soaked clothes. The Stove is surrounded by a 16 gauge welded heat shield covering the walls and counter reflecting the heat into the living area, which sits atop another sliding drawer holding firewood/kindling and tools. Rear windows have snap fastened roll up privacy covers and the front has a matching curtain separating the driving area and the living area.
Mechanically this van is solid, the 5.4 litre V8 has never given me any issues and continues to have lots of power while creeping up on 300k kilometers. One of the reasons I picked a 3/4 tonne was the size of the running gear, suspension and brakes are much heavier and far more durable then a half tonne model which gives you piece of mind taking this van to those tougher to access places far from the highway.Transmission was replaced just before i bought it at a Ford dealership for which i have documentation. Both front and back brakes have been replaced a few years ago now and still have lots of wear left. Some recent work done in the last month includes a fresh oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new idler tensioner, fresh air intake filter and the battery was replaced about 6 months ago. Being that the vehicle is now 15 years old i also completed some rust remediation that would be expected on an ex fleet vehicle, in the process i also fixed all dents and damage on the lower half of the body, rear doors and applied a fresh coat of gravel guard. I am a ticketed technician and so i do all the maintenance.
Cons
- 2 small cracks in windshield toonie sized but very low
- needs an O2 sensor
- could use new tires
- has a small oil leak
It saddens me to see the van go, I would happily keep it and keep taking it on trips but things change and its time to pass it on to the next owner. I would be happy to answer any questions a prospective buyer would have, just shoot me an email.
