This has been our family travel vehicle since that time. However, the kids have grown. It took us to Alaska towing a camper, to the East Coast, to the West Coast and has been totally reliable.
7.3 L diesel. Has never been chipped. I recently replaced the glow plugs, under valve harness, as well as the glow plug module.
Has had lots of work over the years. Brand new heavy duty transmission replaced at the Ford dealership in 2015 At 203,000 miles. I also put in a larger transmission cooler from the 6.0 L at that time.
Has manual locking front hubs. Front end has been rebuilt around the same time as the transmission replacement. Rear end has airbags. It has definitely been used but is also in great shape considering the age and mileage.
The biggest issue is the paint on the hood as well as the roof.
