STATION MANAGER – FINAL MILE DELIVERY (ONE-PERSON OPERATION) – MADISON HEIGHTS, MI
$50,000 base salary + bonuses up to $61,000 total | Full-time | Start early October
Hot Shot Delivery is a Texas-based final mile delivery company opening a new station in Madison Heights for a major national customer. We need one person to run it.
Read this part carefully: this is a one-manager station. There is no one down the hall to cover for you. Freight arrives every business day, and it has to be sorted and on the road by early afternoon, every day. If you are the kind of person who shows up no matter what, who has opened a store, run a route, or kept a small operation going on your own, this is a job with real independence and a company that will value you for it. If you need a lot of flexibility in your schedule, this is not the right fit, and we’d rather tell you now.
THE DAY
• Morning: open the facility, process the day’s order files (they arrive overnight), and prep for inbound freight
• 10–11 AM: freight arrives. Unload, sort, and scan roughly 200 boxes. Most are small, some are larger. You’ll have a part-time sorter helping.
• Build the routes, complete the daily files and reports, and upload the manifests to the drivers and to our delivery software
• Noon–1 PM: get the drivers loaded and launched
• Afternoon: close out the day’s paperwork, handle local issues, and prep for tomorrow. Our Texas operations team monitors the routes through the evening.
You are also responsible for driver staffing. You’ll recruit and onboard independent contractor drivers, keep enough of them on the roster that every route is covered every day, and certify that each one can use our delivery app to close out orders correctly (scans, signatures, photos) before they run a route.
You are not the delivery driver. You are the person who makes sure the drivers succeed.
WHAT WE NEED
• A track record of showing up. We will check references and we will ask about attendance.
• Warehouse, courier, dispatch, parcel (FedEx/UPS/Amazon DSP), or similar experience
• Comfortable with technology: email, spreadsheets, file uploads, handheld scanners, and phone apps, and able to walk a new driver through an app and confirm they’ve got it
• Able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for the sort
• Reliable transportation and a reasonable commute to Madison Heights, including in a Michigan winter
• Able to pass a background check and drug screen
• Available to start training in early October
SCHEDULE AND PAY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Pay: $50,000 base salary. Monthly performance bonuses tied to on-time launches, driver staffing, and correctly completed deliveries, plus retention bonuses at six and twelve months, can bring total first-year pay to $61,000. [Benefits/PTO.]
