Looking for work for room temp (ANCHORAGE)

I'm a 38-year-old single male with no children, currently looking for a place to stay in the Anchorage area.
I'm going through a difficult time financially and unfortunately cannot afford to pay rent right now. However, I'm not looking for a free handout. I'm hoping to find someone who might have an extra room or living space and would be willing to work out an arrangement where I can earn my stay through helping around the house or property.
I'm willing to help with cleaning, yard work, snow removal, basic maintenance, repairs, or other tasks that we can agree upon.
I do have a bit of a background from my past, and I'm not trying to hide that. I've made mistakes, but my past doesn't define who I am today. I'm simply trying to move forward and get some stability back in my life.
I understand that trust is earned, and I'm more than willing to have an honest conversation with anyone who might be open to an arrangement like this.
I'm not asking for much, just a safe place to stay and an opportunity to contribute in exchange.
